THAMES. April 15.
The first poll under the local option clames of the Lioensinq Aot took place yesterday in the south ward of the borough, and resulted in a small majority against an increase of licenses. The same result was experienced in the Parawai riding of the Thames county. A fruiterer named M'Donnell has boen sentenced by the Justices to three months' imprisonment for allowing gumbing on his premises.
