THE EXHIBITION. {Lyttelton Times, April 4.)

Mr B. J. Leahy, Marshal of the Friendly Societies and Trades' procession, received a letter from the Brickmakers* Association, expressing their willingness to take part in the procession. Mr Madden, master of the Burnham Industrial School, has arranged to send a brass bnnd of 20 performers (from the children of the school. The Kaiapoi Fire Brigade have nlso agreed to march In the procession. The offer of the Lyttelton Brass Band was accepted by Mr Leahy, who is anxious to receive answers from the Leestnn, Snnthbridue, Ran»ion», and Kaiapoi Bauds as to their willingness to assist in the proceedings. A meeting of the boot and shoe trade was held at the Wellington Hotel last evening. Mr William Skinner presided, and there was n good attendance. Messrs Joubert and Twopeny earnestly request exhibitors to attend to their goods and have them brought into the Exhibition building at once. The plastering of the front of the Art Gallery was commenced yesterday. The fitting up of the refreshment room is being rapidly proceeded with ; while the other unfinished portions of the building are being pushed forward with the greatest rapidity. At 11 a.m. yesterday his Excellency the Governor, accompanied l>y Major Knollys, A.D.0., and Mr Murray, private secretary, paid a visit to the Exhibition, and was received and conducted round the building by Mr Jouherfc. It has been arranged that his Excellency shall begin the opening ceremony on Monday next at 11 a.m., instead of 10.30, as previously announced.
