A N. W. galo last ninht did considerable damage throughout tho city, At Campbells china bazaar a wall was blown down and Campbell estimates his loss at LISOP, Park and Curie's building of iron and wood was also blown down. Richards and O«., of George street, aWo suffered considerably. Fences and windows innumerablo wore broken. At Port Chalmers several vessels dragged tlioir moorings, but no damage was done. The Mount Bender Mail mentions Mr William Morris of Waikaia as a probable otii'iidate for tho Wuikaia seat.
