Mr W. Oonyers, '-Commissioner of Railways for tho South Island, and Mr Lowo, Residont Engineor, woro oxamiuod by tho Oivil Service Commission to-day. At tho Supremo Court to-day, Butler's trial for murdor was fixed for Thursday week. Wm. Greonwood, charged with depositing night soil near a publio highway, was bound ovor in his own recognisances in tho sura of LlOO to como up for judgment when called upon, and having signed tho required bond, ho was discharged,
