Tho Govornmeut Inspector of Works visited Ashburton to-day, to inspect tho oito for tho now Court-houso. Tho annual meeting of tho Jockey Club took place on Saturday. A vory satisfactory balance-sheet was presontod, and a unanimous vote of thanks to tho retiring oilicors was passed. Tlio weather is now unsottled, and a heavy south-west wind, with alight rain, has now sot in.
