The polling for a member of the House of Representatives (in the room of Mr R. Stout, resigned) took place to-day. There was nothing like the excitement customary in town on such occasions, and it was only in and around the central polling booth (the old Supreme Court-house) that there were any indications of »ny unusual occurrence in the city. The committees and friends of both candidates worked hard. It is understood that Mr Reeves got the Catholic block vote, but Mr Stewart receivod the hearty support of his friends, especially members of the legal profession, who have confidence in him and worked hard for him.
