WELLINGTON. June 10.
The Post says the Premier ii about to visit Sir Wm. Fitzgerald to offer him the Speakership of the Council, and that if this is accepted Mr O'Rorko will be the Government nominee for the 8 eakorship of the House, and Mr Hanuiu for the Chairmanship of Committees. It is stated that the insurance ooinpanics havo come to the determination to rebuild all the properties destroyed by fire in eases where the insurance money is sufficient, or nearly so, for that purpose. A cordial manufacturer's delivery cart collided with the tram cars to-day. There* was a great smash amongst the bottles, but no one was Kurt* The hearing of the perjury case against Mr Kinross was proceeded with to-day, and a couple more Maori witnesses examined. The case was then further adjourned for eight days. Mr Sievwright conducted the prosecution in the absence of Mr Reos. Nothing important was elicited to-day. The ftteamer Stella brought down from Taranaki another batch of 22 recruits for the Armed Constabulary foroe. They are now being drilled at the barracks, I and so soon as they are efficient, will be forwarded either to Taranaki or Hawera.
