The election of Oity Auditors took pitas to-day. There were three oandidates for the two offices, and the old auditor! were re-eleoted, the poll being: Stevenson, 342 ; Elliott, 327 ; Angarde, 182. The Attorney-General and Minister of Public Works went South to-day. • In the Kinross perjury case, on Saturday afternoon, Mr Rees wanted the case adjourned till after the meeting of Parliament, because the clerks of the Legislative Council were unwilling to yive evidence unless they obtained permission from the Council. Mr Rees said a threat had been held out that ho would bo attached for contempt wens he to press the Council clerks £00 much. Mr Travers would not consent to such along adjournment, and the caso was adjourned till the 10th June. Mr Rees hinted he would fill up the time from 10th June till 11th of July by calling Maori witnesses. At Featherston to-day a man named Wm. Ponhcrtly Ford, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for robbiug his master, Huxley, a ta'lor.
