Port Chw/ukrs, Ft>b. 3. Arrived — J. A. Balland, barque, from New York, 103 days out. She brings 1150 tons cargo, three-fifths of which is for Dunedin, and the remainder for Lyttelton. The barque Easter Hill, from London, is off the Heads. The Taupo reached here at 9.30 a.m. from Akaroa. A handsome barque (the Charlwood) arrived at 11.30 p.m. yesterday, laden with 1300 tons ra'lway material. She made the passage from Newport, South Wales, in 85 'days. She experienced poor north-east tra les, and crossed the Equator 25 days out ; tjok the steady westerlies in lat. *30 S. ; crossed the meridian of the Cape of Good -Hope in lat. 43 S., December 30 ; had strong N.W. to N. winds across the Southern , Ocean ; made the Snares at norm on Feb. 1, and arrived off the Heads at 2 p.m. yesterday.

Wanoanui, Feb. 3. A collision occurred between the Go-ahead and Hura, off Terawiti, on Saturday, at 4 a.m. The passengers on the Hura say that every attempt was made to steer clear, but that the Go-ahead came right on, knocking a hole in the port bow of the Hura, rebounding, and scraping alongside. Both steamer 3 •topped, but finding that no sen'oni injury had been done, they resinned their joiu-ney, the Go-ahead going on to Wellington, and the Hura cim-n:? on to "Wanganui. Bluff, Feb 3. •The 4rawat* arrived at 6p m. She left Melbourne at midday on the 33th January, with the Suez mail, 64 saloon, and 51 steer*ste passengers, 400 tons cargo and 2 horses. Experienced freih S.W. during the passage. She sails for Dunedin early tomorrow. Passed the Bobycito, steering east, off Centre Island.
