At the official declaration of the poll at Roslyn tcvdtiy, Mr Ross, the defeated candidate, said ho meant to file a petition against the return of Mr Driver, owing to tho latter having placed tomptations in tho way of electors which few men would bo able to withstand — by placing open public-houses at their disposal. Mr Driver ropliocl that the statement was a lie.
