Maggie Lnuderwus got by the celebrated horse Prince Charlie, imported to Melbourne by Messrs J. and M. M'lntosh, out of Blanche, imported by D. Nt-sbit, Esq. Nancy, own sister to Young Emperor, took First Prize at the Weat Taieri Show, 1874. Young Emperor is dark brown horse, stands 16 hands high. He was exhibited at the Taieri Show in 1873 and 1874, and was both times a pure-taker. Maggy Lauder, his dum, has been the winner of 18 prizes, 9 of them being first prizes in Otugo. Teems £4. 11HE Pure-Bred Clydesdale Stallion COMET. The property of James Gemmell, Kakanui, Will Travel in the KAKANUI AND MOERAKI DISTRICTS. COMET is out of the imported mare Jean. Jean was bred by Alexander Galbraith, Croycunningham, Kileavu, a noted breeder and pi ize taker. Jean's dnm was the famous mare Jess, who gained six first prizes out of seven competitions. Jean also gained six first and second prizes beforo leaving Scotland, and seventeen first and second prizes since coming to this country. Jean's sire was the celebrated horse Justice ; grandsire, Mr Clarke's Prince Albert, who gained the Highland Society's second prize at Glasgow in 1850 ; first at Brechin in 1851 ; and first at Hamilton in 1852 ; g.g. sire Clyde, allowed to be the best horse in Britain in his day. Comet's sire is the celebrated horse Marquis. Marquis was bred by John Brown, Esq., Preston Hall, Heidelberg, and is allowed by competent judges to be the best horse ever bred in Victoria. Marquis has gained the following prizes : — When one year old, two first prizes ; at two years old, three first ; when three years old, six first and two second, showing against imported horses ; when four years old, showing against all comers, four first and one second ; and three days before being shipped he carried off the first prize at the Grand National Show at Geelong, orer twelve competitors. In Otago he has gained four first prizes and six second. Marquis is by Prince Charlie, out of Mr Brown's celebrated mare Old Jean. Old Jean gained thirteen first prizes, and never was beaten in her day. Comet is of a rich brown color, stands 17 hands high, is of great strength, compactly built, and of very superior action. He has proved himself a sure fo»l-getter. Comet was first shown as a two-year old at the Taieri Show, when he got first prize. He was next shown as a three-year old, against all classes, when be took second prize. When four years old, at Tokomairiro, took second prize, his sire being first. TKBMS, L4; GbOOMAOE, 5s. And all demands payable to the Groom on or before the 1st February, 1876, when the ' ■eason ends. Guarantees as per agreement.
