MELBOURNE STATION PRODUCE REPORT.
Messrs J. H. Clough and Co report, under date December 8th : — Wool.— Daring the week the usual sales have b*en held, and a considerable quantity has changed hands by auction and privately at prices folly sustaining previous sales' rates, except for ; inferior and faulty, lots, which ruled a shade , easier. W« held our usual nle on Monday last, When ire catalogued 700 bales. _ There was a, good attendance of buyers, and in consequence of telegraphic advices being to hand that day of the opening of the London November Sales — reporting prices to be about the lame -a* at the close of the last series — the biddings were spirited for every lot offeied, and satisfactory
prices -were realised. Greasy »old for 8d to 13d ', fleece, 14^d to 23$d per lb ; and we have since sold a parcel of scoured wool at 19d per lb. Sheepskins.— The market remains about the same as last week. We have sold butchers' green skins at 3s to 5s 6d ; pelts, 6d to 2s 3d ; dry skins, 3s to 6s each ; and station skins, in bales, 5d to 8d per lb. Hides. — The market is very barely supplied, and prices continue firm for all descriptions. We sold green ox at 24s to 35s ; cow, los to 23s each; Victorian wet salted, 4^1 to 5d ; New Zealand, 5d to 5.jd ; calfskins, 5d to Cd ; and kips, 4Jd to 5d per lb. Tallow.— The market during the week has been firmer. We have sold by auction and privately as follows :— Inferior, L26 to L28 ; mixed, L29 to L34 ; beef, L30 to L33 j and mutton, L35 to L36 per ton. Leather. — We held our usual sale on Tuesday, and sold a large quantity at. for kip, 15d to Is 9d ; crop, lOd to lid ; calf, 2s to 3s Gd ; runners, 19 lOd to 2s 3d ; wallaby, 2s 3d to 2s 9d ; waxed kangaroo, 2s to 2s 3d ; brown kangaroo, Is lOd to 2s 2d ; and harness, Is Id to Is l£d per lb; basils, 3s to 15s per dozen. Kangaroo Skins.— We have sold a large supply at, for small, 6d to 8d j medium, 9d to lOd ; and large skins, lid to 13d per lb. Bark. — We have sold a large quantity of all kinda during the week as follows, viz : For bundled, L4 10a to L4 15a ; chopped, 15 to L5 5s ; and ground, L6 10s per ton, bags charged.
