GORSE HEDGES AND PUBLIC ROADS.
(To the Editor of the North Otago Times.) Sib, — I desire through the medium of your paper to druw the attention of " whom it may concern" to the damage which many of the roads and footpaths in the district are suffering through the enoroaohment thereon of gorse, self-town from the adjoining fences. Anyone walking along the Landon road will see that by another season the gorse will, if unchecked, hare entirely usurped the footpath, and there are many places both on toe South and North road where there will soon be but a mere track left between a thicket of gold and green, which, however pretty to look at, it decidedly out of place on a publio highway. | The GoYerntnent and the Road Boards should insist upon proprietors trimming their fenced in season so as to prevent the enormous expense which will otherwise be one day inourred in clearing the way. I am, &c, VlATOB.
