PRIZE PLOUG.

- The "Fawner's Magazine" g^ves a sketch of the plough which earned off the first prizg for a "general purpose plough" at the! Hull meeting of the Koyal Agricultural Society of England, 1873.' The implement is exceedingly light, and is provided with a skim coulter; this, though indispensible to ; clean, farming, is ' rarely* -met* in Colonial ploughs; ' The -above-- journal says: — ''At Hull, Messrs Ball and Song; whose works- are at Bothwell, .near took the first priife for Wheel-ploughs nbt exceeding 2£cwt., the first prize for wheel-ploughs not exceeding 3cwt.i and the second price , for wheel-ploughB notexceeding 2cwt. ; as well as a first prise for iron plough and Bubsoiler combined; another first prize for__double-mouledboard.ploughs, and a second prize for swing-ploughs. In fac$ .the success of the Rothwell firm was yery signal, but by no means unexpected ) for, as the report puts it, this is not the first time the well-known Criterion ploughs have appeared on the ■pme , Hats .of toe Royal Agricultural Society of England.
