" We have had aii arrival of 20 female and 10 mala immigrants, from the shin Light Brigade, which arrived at LytteHon, and the former have nearly all found engagements at L25 to L35. A code of new Bignals has been received by the Harbor Master here, same as those in use at Taranaki; they were to have effect from the 1st Sept. Mr Dobson, Provincial Engineer, has reported thnt a safe bridge over the Opihi and Temuka Rivers can be constructed for L2500. Ho recommends that tho erection of a railway bridge be delayed. A new Hospital is to bo at once proceeded with at a cost of L800. The Board of Works have received from tho Colonial Treasurer a draft for L28.S00, on the Crown Agents, London, at 30 days' sight. r lho Municipal elections took place yesterday, and caused considerable excitement. Tho barquo Susan Jane has sailed for Melbourne with 8600 bushels oats and 23 bales wool. Oats aro now enquired for here at 2s. a bushel. The Dancing Wave, schooner, is to load produce here for Hokitika. The wcathor is very fine.
