The excitement prevailing in regard to the Animal Face Meeting this week has considei ably disturbed general business matter*, but from the influx of visitors, the town generally haa borne a livelier appearance. Shipping ha* been quiet during the present week, but soi ei ill consting vessels with cargoes are now overdue. Adelaide flour cannot bo quoted under L33; L29, we 1'dieve, being the ruling price in the Dunedin maiket. Oiimaru silk-dressed, L24 ; in parcels. L23. Old oats are in demand, but them are none offering. The new ■* ill be in the mat kut shortly. Chaff is quoted at L6 to L7 per ton. We liavo enjoyed fine harvest woather during the week, Tuesday afternoon excepted, when rain fell heivily and incessantly for many hours.
