HO KITIKA.
Bv private advices we learn that this port has been declared a warehousing port for goods under bond. This will afford great facility to merchants trading to the "West Coast, as it will dispense with the necessity of sending goods to Nelson for payment of the duty. Our infoimation as to the exodus of miners is confirmatory of that given in another column, extracted fiom the " West Coast Times." But it should be stated that it is due to the wet and boisterous weather lately prevalent on the West Coast. The intelligence from the diggings themselves continues good, and information has been received that a party of miners prospecting some fifteen milts up the Hokitika, River have hit upon a terrace which yields nearly a pennyweight to the dish. In fact, it has now been placed beyond doubt that a rich deposit of gold exists over a large extent of country. — Lyttelton Times.
