The barque P. 0. E arrived off Otago Heads on Saturday week, and proceeded thence to Oamaru, intending to discharge portion of her coal freight there. Contrary instructions as to their landing were, however, given at that port by some of the parties interested, and the vessel has returned here to discharge. Off the coast she encountered, in its full force, the very heavy weather which has prevailed during the week. Including the detention between the two ports, she was three weeka out, but she made the passage from Newcastle in fourteen days, leaving two days after the Lady Young. The steamship City of Dunedin, during her stay in port, has received new tubes in her boilers and other repairs. On Saturday, she coaled and received her passengers, and sailed at 7.30 on Sunday morning. She calls at the three intermediate Northern ports on her way to Hokitika, having altogether to land 350 tons of cargo and 90 passengers. The royal mail s.s. Horo, T. Logan^commander, from Melbourne, arrived on 24th April at 8«.m. Left HobBUJon's Bay on Monday the 17th inst., at 4 p.m. ; when *she cleared the Heads, no signal of the English mail had arrived at Adelaide. Arrived at the Bluff on Sunday, the 23rd. Landed mails, passengers, and cargo. The Hero on this occassion has not brought the English February mails. After being detained in Melbourne three days in expectation of the South Australian branch steamer from King George's Sound being notified at Adelaide, she was despatched by Mr T. Brown, the New Zealand mail agent, from instructions he received prior to his leaving Dunedin.— Daily Times.
