MEETING OF CHURCH OF ENGLAND CONGREGATION.

The annual meeting of the Church of Englat Congregation, which was postponed from Thursday lar took place at the Court-house on Tuesday evening. Owing to the very unsettled state of the weather, tt attendance was again very liiiiited. Tho Rev. Mi Gifford presided, and opened the meeting with prayei He then gave a running progress report of Parish woi and interests for the past year— referring to the step taken towards the erection of the proposed church — to Bishop's visit in the early part of the year, and the cot firmation then held — the advancement in the congregs tional music, through the efforts of those members < the congregation who form the choix 1 — and the stead usefulness of the Sunday school under the able managf ment of those who have the conduct of it. After some remarks of encouragement and congratt lation upon the subject of the year's accounts. The Chairman called upon Mr. Filleul as Treasurer t read the statements of his balance-sheet. Mr. Filleul called attention to the various grounds 4 satisfaction, which the accounts exhibited ; stating thai thousjh the general depression of the times was seriouili felt here as elsewhere, yet the subscription list for pro viding the clergyman's salary as Well as the weeklj offertories in the Church showed an increase on l«s year's results. A summary of the accounts will be forwarded to tb Treasurer of the Rural Deanery Board, and we belieyei fuller statement will be printed for local distribution, together with a list of subscribers to the Stipend Fund. The Minister nominated Mr. W. G. Filleul as his owt Church Warden, and the meeting elected Mr. Johi Allan to act as Church Warden for the congregation ; and the following gentlemen were elected Vestrymen foi the curient year — Messrs. Ashcroft, Sumpter, Jama Less, French, and J. H. Every. In the course of the meeting the Chairman stated thit the tenders (now due), for the erection of the Churcl had not yet been sent in by the architect!, but that u soon as possible after their arrival there would be s meeting of the Building Committee to examine them, The Rev. Chairman pronounced the blessing and thi meeting closed.
