“Few women solicitors have dared to tackle such tasks as Mrs. Dorothea Large, who is both a practising solicitor and the mother of ten children. Years ago she decided that to bring up such a brood she must earn extra, money to add to her husband’s income. He was a solicitor, so she went into his office to do her legal training. In intervals of bathing the baby and darning the socks she studied for her law examinations—to such good effect that at forty she was admitted a solicitor herself.”
