Tide Catches Truck
Tokerau Beach Episode Whilst proceeding along Tokerau Beach yesterday with a full load on his truck, Mr. Karry Leckner of Cable Bay had the misfortune to get caught by the advancing waier. There was litle hope of pulling the truck to safety, so Mr. Leckner tipped his load, and had to stand by while he saw it completely covered by the rising tide. Late last night a party went to the spot and found that the receding tide had left his truck, and they managed to pull it up the beach to a place oi safety, but the steering had been damaged to the extent that the truck could not be tower*. Mr. Leckner expects to have his vehicle in a garage some time today, after repairs to the steering have been effected.
