Action Being Taken Against Green Beetle
PEST TO BE ATTACKED BY PARASITE Of particular interest to Kaitaia and Awanui residents is the fact that the garden pest, the green beetle, is to be attacked by a parasite which it is claimed will eradicate it within a short time. On Tuesday last, a member of the Caw-thorn Institute visited this town with the object of finding just how badly situated the locality is with respect to the prevalence of the greenbeetle. His inquiries and obsexvations led to his stating that he would return here from Paihia and Kerikeri next week, when he intends to release ten thousand of the parasites in Kaitaia and another ten thousand in Awanui. It is believed that the attack of this beetle parasite is particularly voracious, and within a short space of time they should be able to destroy all of this menace to the gardeners of the district. The AGE hopes to be able to give further details about this in our next issue.
