Miss Heather Johnston and Miss Joy Cole of Auckland are visiting the district, and are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. 11. Atkinson. Mrs. Saunders of Auckland is 1 spending a holiday with her daughter, Mrs. V. Hewitt, j Mrs. L. Malcolm returned home on ; Sunday from a holiday spent with J her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brown of Takapuna. Miss Vera Gundry of Motukaraka is the guest of'Mr. and Mrs. C. Wal- | lace. Miss Jean Anderson has returned home after spending several weeks’ holiday with her uncle in Auckland. DANCE The P.T.A. held a most successful dance in the Kaingaroa hall last Friday night. The music was supplied by Mrs. White (piano) and Mr. H. Paul (violin), and Mr. Jack Cowie made a very capable m.c. Several novelty dances were on the programme, and the Mad Hatters dance caused quite a lot of amusement, Mrs. B. Cowie and Mr. Silcock being judged the winners. Mr. a. id Mrs. V. Cowan were the winners of the monte carlo waltz, and Mrs. C. Wallace and Mr. Pat McCann the personality waltz. Nearing midnight a most delicious supper was served, after which dancing was resumed until after 1 a.m. KAINGAROA W.I. The February meeting of the Hairgaroa Women’s Institute was held in the Hall last Thursday, Mrs. C. Wallace presiding in the absence of :he President, Mrs. L. Malcolm. There was a fair attendance and one new membeis was welcomed. The 101 l call was “ he most humor -us story” and was well responded to. Arrangements for the display of arts and crafts to be held in Kaitaia on February 18th were finalised. The competition for cream puffs was won by Mrs. C. Wallace as was the bed pan cover to be donated to the hospital. Mrs. A. Wallace and Mrs. A. Burgoyne were the afternoon tea hostesses. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
