Temperance Education Council
At a recent meeting of the Kaitaia Temperance Education Council it was unanimously agreed to adopt the' suggestion of the N.Z. Alliance, that we all declare ourselves to be the Kaitaia N.Z. Alliance Temperance League. Keen interest and much discussion has taken place at its various meetings on the various temperance issues on the passing of the recent Licensing Bill, and the coming referendum. All members spoke in appreciative terms of the “Householder” put out by the N.Z. Alliance on “ six o’clock closing or 10.” It was thought being very informative, would be keenly read. The meeting carried a resolution unanimously pledging hearty support of 6 o’clock closing, and urging that all electors should exercise their votes as citizens, and endeavour to do thei r utmost to retain the six o’clock closing of all licensed liquor bars It was thought that most of the women voters would strongly support it being retained, having proved to be a boon to family leisure and the home life.
