Disputes Over Suitable Site The site of the projected District High School was the thenie trf- a port forwarded to the Auckland Education Board by Mr. A. W. Ansley, chairman of the Paranui School Committee. His report followed a meeting which the School Committee held at Oruru on July 8. After lengthy discussion on the subject, a motion was carried recommending Taipa to the Board as the site for the District School. Only committee against Taipa was Oruru. According to Mr. Ansley’s report, views of the committees present were varied : Paranui: “Will support the school with both primary and secondary pupils wherever it is built, but strongly prefer Taipa.” Oruru : “Oruru will support the school with primary and secondary pupils, but prefer Oruru and give the impression tliat they will fight for Oruru till the last.” Mangonui : “Mangonui will support the school with secondary pupils only. They are strongly in favour of Taipa.” Lake Ohia : “Is very keen to have the school at Taipa and will support it with both primary and secondary classes. They will definitely not sup-poi-t the schopl if it is built at Oruru.” Peria : “Will not support the school at all.” Paraparu : “Is in favour of Taipa and will support with secondary pupils only." Oruaiti: “Not present . . wish to be left out of the scheme altogether.” All present however, agreed that the need for the school was urgent ....
