WOMEN'S MISSIONARY UNION
Sixteenth Anniversary On Wednesday, local members of the Women’s Missionary Union held their sixteenth anniversary function in Kaitaia, the birthday being celebrated at luncheon and an afternoon social function in the Presbyterian Church hall. In the absence of the President, Mrs. J. Graham, the chair was occupied at luncheon by Mrs. W. Geard who welcomed visitors ft»m the Mangonui, Fairburns, Kaingaroa and sister churches. Sourrounding districts were represented by members whose association with the organisation is maintained by correspondence. Speakers who replied on behalf of the various centres and organisations to the welcome extended them, were Mrs. H. Foster (Mangonui), Mrs. A. Tracey (Fairbtorns), Mrs. O. Williams (Methodist Missionary Union) and Mrs. Ron Matthews (Church of England). Mrs. Graham presided during the afternoon when Mrs. E. Kerr of the Ahipara Maoris Mission addressed an audience of about 50. Catering arrangements for the function were undertaken by Mesdames Lewis and A. McKenzie and helpers in the kitchen, and Mesdames A. W. Bird and W. Parker who supervised the tables. Stall holders were Mesdames H. Foley and'V. Beazley.
