STAR’S BEAUTY SECRET An overdose of mascara can bi just as fatal to beauty as an overdose of sunshine, according to M.G.M star Esther Williams, who offer; some fresh ideas about make-up. Esther became interested in this aspect of glamour when she noticec that husband Ben Gage never criticised her on seeing her first thing in the morning without make-up. “On the contrary," she -gays, “he always—Seine" ebmplimentarj remark on my appearance.” “There are many Hollywood stars Greer Garson, Ingrid Bergman Lana Turner, Donna Reed . to namt a few who could step before the technicolour cameras without any all-too-concealing make-up. “Not everyone can hope for a perfect complexion, and make-up in moderation is a boon to women. But let us be ourselves—not standardised tc a set pattern 0 f heavy mascara, long eyelashes and heavy lipstick. Aftei all, individuality is the real essence of charm.” Esther herself is happiest with ths merest trace of lipstick, a free-flow-ing coiffure and a good coat of tan.
