OPENING OF HOSPITAL TENNIS CLUB The official opening of the Mangonui County Memorial Hospital Tennis Club, recently formed on the suggestion of Sister Waugh, took place at the hospital court on Saturday afternoon. There was a large crowd of members of the staff, their friends and hospital officials in attendance, and, favoured by perfect spring sunshine, to the satisfaction of the committee which had been responsible for the arrangements, the function was carried to a successful conclusion. The Hospital Board was represented by the Chairman (Mr. J. W. Lloskin) and the Secretary (Mr. A. G. Wilson), who was accompanied by his wife. The Medical Superintendent, Dr. J. H. Webber, and Mrs. Webber were also present and witnessed the opening of the court by the Patron of the Club, Matron McDiarmid, by serving the first ball. Management of the Club is by a Committee of eight, the President (Nurse King) and the Secretary 4-Nurse Berghan). Competitions, in which members of the Club and visitors took part, had been arranged and continued until almost 7 p.m., when the failing light made playing difficult. A delectable afternoon tea was served about 4 p.m. at a buffet in the hospital diningroom.
