Mrs. Hoskin presided over the September meeting of the Fairburns Women’s Institute which was held in the hall on September 11th. There was a very good attendance of members and a welcome was extended to two visitors. The September birthdays were those of Mrs. Hoskin and Mrs. V. Fisher. Results of competitions were: Bean guessing Mrs. S. Tracey; Jumbled names —Mrs. L. Foster. The month’s competitions were a hot water bag cover (in knitting or crochet) and wild flowers arranged in a baking powder tin. The hostesses, Mrs. D. Coulter and Mrs. Hoskin, served afternoon tea, and this concluded a very happy meeting.
