A Truant Awheel While Mr. Pip Snflth of Waihopo was driving a small car through Awanui lastbweekettfi spectators were treated to the spectacle of the front wheel coming off the car, careering along the ld&d and heading straight for the door cßj toe bar of the Awanui Hotel. The ndvp of the brake drum dragging alongf the road made sure that the incideattldid not go unnoticed and with assistance of several onlookers wh» lifted the front of the car, the truant wheel was back in place in reObrd time and the car and driver followed by goodnatured comments frdtn the onlookers. Returned Services JJocial Club The Aw&nui Returned Services Social Clul/held a meeting ar the Parish Flail, Awanui last Tuesday evening, when £ bowls tournament took place. Following are the details of scoring : Maria, Matthews defeated Vaz§y, Oliver, Logan, Gill, 8-5; Matthews, Oliver, Lister, Shaw defeated Gill; Maria, Logan, Vazey, 9-9; Shaw, Gis, Maria, Lister defeated i Vazey, Matthews, Oliver, Logan, 7-4 ; Cosson, Vazey, Gill, Maria defeated Jujnovich, Logan, Matthews, Olivet, 6-4; Jujnovich, Matthews, Maria, lister defeated Logan, Oliver, Cosson, Vazey, 6-1. The competition was won by F. Dean.
