Australian High Commissioner to Visit lvaitaia Mr. A. R. Cutler V.C., Australia! High Commissioner in New Zealand will address members of the Kaitai; Chamber of Commerce at their quarterly meeting in the Parish Hall oi Tuesday evening-. The public is cordially invited to attend this meetinj as both Mr. and Mrs. Cutler have ex pressed the’ desire to meet as man; j citizens of the district as possible j They are at present on a tour o J Northland. ! This is a unique occasion for Kai | taia and it is confidently expectec ! that, there will be a large attendance | in the Parish Hall that evening. The : importance of the occasion warrants , an opportunity of all interested be ! ing able to meet and hear Mr. Cutlci speak. Mr. Arthur Roden Cutler, V.C., 11 . Ec., Sydney, was Assistant Commisj doner of. the Repatriation Depart ; ment from 1943 to May 1946. Exactly five years ago on Novem ! ber 30th, 1941, he was awarded the j Victoria Cross for displaying excep | tional courage in driving back the enemy and establishing- outposts which were a big factor in the cap lure of Merdjayoun, Middle East. Mr. Cutler was educated at the Sydney High School and the Univer I sity of Sydney. He served with the i Public Trust Office from 1935-42 aqc | was State Secretary of the Returnee Sailors’, Soldiers’ and Airmens’ Im j p-crial League of Australia, Nev | South Wales in 1942-43. In 1943 he j became Assistant Deputy Director o: I Security Service, New South Wales A keen sportsman, Mr. Cutle: gained both Sydney and Australia) University Blues for swimming.
