NOMADS’ TEAMS Senior The following players will represent the Nomads senior team against Mangataiore on Saturday. All are asked to meet outside the Kaitaia Post Office at 9.15 a.m. : H. Findlay, J. KAITAIA TEAM The following players will represent the Kaitaia seniors against Victoria Valley l at the Valley at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The team will leave from Russell’s at 9.30 a.m. : J. Sowter, T. Bradford, R. Russell, T. Matthews, Andrew, G. Campbell, J. Brown, F. Subritzky, Powell, N. Rogers, O. Williams. THE FIVE DAY WEEK AND CRICKET With the advent of the five-day week in Kaitaia, comes the advent of all-day cricket for all teams in the Mangonui County. Country teams were already playing one day cricket amongst themselves, but town teams when playing country teams and when playing each other, had agreed on two-day games. The draw would probably have been upset if that state of affairs had continued. Now with the coming of the 5-day week, all day cricket will be possible to all teams. Starting Saturday next games in the senior competition will commence at 10 a.m. Starting times of junior games are still in doubt, however. KOHUKOHU V. MAMARI Mamari met Kohukohu at Kohukohu in the second game of the first round. The weather was perfect and the ground good but for a surplus of grass which kept scoring low. Kohukohu led in the first innings by five runs. The second innings showed an improvement, Mamari being left wfth 66 runs to win. This was accomplished with the loss of four wickets. To give Mamari an outright win, R. Hawkins knocked vp 44 of the required number, his score containing five sixers. The results are as follows : Kohukohu, Ist innings 43 (O. Dunning 15. S. Mansbridge 4 for 4, H. Mansbridge 3 for 5, E. Kingdon 2 for 11). Mamari, Ist innings, 38 (E. Kingdon 11. R. Hansen 7 for 25). . Kohukohu, 2nd innings, 60 (Armstrong 25 not out. E. Kingdon 5 for 23, S. Mansbridge 3 for 16). Mamari, 2nd Innings, 80 for four wickets (R. Hawkins 44 not out, W. Armstrong 16 not out. C. Lane 2 for 10). BROADWOOD V. TUTEKEHUA The Broadwood team travelled to Tutekehua to play the local side on Saturday. The day was fine and conditions good. Tutekehua batting firrt dii! not fare well, the destructive feam. being the bowling of S. Fergusson, wl.o finished with the fine average of 8 wickets for 7 runs. F. Walker with 15, was the only batsman to reach double figures and the innings closed for 28. Of Broadwood’s early batsmen, only S. Fergusson, who compiled 20, stayed any length of time at the crease . Later J. Hick and F. Carman hit out to make 22 and 13 respectively. The side were all out for 77. In their second strike, Tutekehua failed by 2 runs to save the innings defeat. G. Cauty hit ha'ii in making 22. S. Fergusson with £ for 12 again had the best bowling figures. Tutekehua, Ist innings, 28 (F Walker 15 not out. S. Fergusson ‘ for 7). Broadwood, Ist innings, 77 (J. Girls’ Marching Team The Kaitaia B team will be march ing in the Show at Waimate Nortl on Saturday next. They have been attending regula practices with W/O Hart and the, are certain to acquit themselves a well as the A team did in Whangarc last Saturday. The following girls will comprise the team : Miss June Wilson (leader), Misse Joy Sowter, Gladys Brljevich, Haze Beazley, Helen Murdock, Joy Mur dock, Joyce Tynan, Violet Brljevich Reyna Watson and Jacqueline Holder
