Awanui Flower Show

1.0.0. F. Lodge Notes

Whatuwhiwhi Notes

In spite of unfavourable weather, the Awanui Flower Show held by the Awanui branch of the Women’s Institute, proved a very successful function. Although the display of cut flowers was not up to last year's standard either as regards quality or number, the decorative section and the children’s entries were outstanding, particularly the latter section Vegetable entries were also well worthy of merit. Mrs. Sawer, Vice-President of the Dominion Federation of Women’s Institutes, gave a very instructive talk and made special comment on the children’s section which, she said, compared more than favourably with this section in the shows held in the larger centres. Mrs. Sawer also made favourable comment on the classes of entries received throughout. Champion exhibits were as follows: Champion Bloom of show—Mrs. S. G. Richards. Champion Gladioli—Mr. A. O.
