MONTHLY INGLESIDE An excellent programme was presented at the usual monthly Ingleside in the A. and P. Halt on Saturday evening. Organisers were Mrs. W. Parker and Mrs. C. Gibson. A large crowd spent a most enjoyable evening dancing and listening to the items. Mrs. Gibson supplied the dance music, Mr. G. Surman was m.c. and extras were played by Mr. E. Kendrick. Monte carlo winners were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cowie and Mr. D. Hanlon and partner. The programme included : Songs by Rev. Graham and Miss Shirley Whitburn, song and recitation by Mr. E. Kendrick, piano and violin duet by Mr. and Mrs. B. McKinnon, tap dances by Yvonne Murdock and Pat Subritzky, and the Highland Fling by Brent Bedggood. CONVICTED OF THEFT Sentenced to Gaol Messrs. F. Holder and W. H. Atkins, Js.P., yesterday convicted Thomas Whitinui Jnr., 18, of theft and sentenced him to 3 months’ imprisonment in the Mt. Eden gaol. Whitinui pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing last Saturday evening, an overcoat, a rug and bread to the total value of £6 1/9, the property of Joe Fosinkovich. Sergeant H. J. Harrington stated that at 8 p.m. on Saturday evening, complainant Posinkovich left his car in Commerce St. while he attended the pictures. On his return to the car at 11.30 p.m. the articles were missing. The theft was reported to Constable Carson on Sunday morning who had arrested the offender and regained the goods within twenty minutes. Accused who had not previously been in trouble, could give no explanation for the offence. A single man, W'hitinui was earning £ll a fortnight said Sgt. Harrington.
