Previously Reported Missing, Now Presumed Dead Williams, Mervyn Adolphus (Leading Radio Mechanic) —Kaitaia. * * «• Reported missing, presumed dead. Leading .Radio Mechanic Mervyn Adolphus Williams, aged 23, was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Williams, of Kaitaia. Receiving his early education at Ashburton and Waikato Schools, Mervyn later attended the Kaitaia District High School. He was a keen follower of all branches of sport and while attending the Auckland Training College represented Auckland at baseball in 1938-39. He commenced teaching at the Waihou School, Te Aroha, later becoming a relieving teacher for a period. Finally he returned to the Kaitaia Dis--1 Slick High School, where he remained until entering the Navy in April, 1942. He left New Zealand for overseas in October of the same year.
