The second round of the Mangonui Rugby Union competition was concluded on Saturday. Kaitaia retained their unbeaten record bv outpointing Kaitaia II > (’ -sU < they failed to defeat was Ail Force, drawing with them on both occasions. Air Force hive challenged Kaitaia on Saturday for supremacy. After defeating Awanui on Saturday, Air ( > Force are confident that this time , the result will 1 be decisive. *1 Kaitaia Defeat Home Guard Home Gu .rd, after their success against Air Force, were expected to extend Kaitaia, but fielding a scratch side and not a complete fifteen until the last few minutes, were unable to' cope with the best team the leaders / have sent into action this season. The/l result was in Kaitaia’s favour by 17 1 points to 0. The Guardsmen held I their own in the forwards although 1 a man short. It was the Kaitaia backs that they could not stop; with better handling and a few less for- | ward passes the score would have been doubled.
