KAITAIA DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB The first shoot in the series for the D. H. Anderson medal was held at 800 and 9CO yards under tricky conditions due to .a quickly changing cross wind.
Next weekend a double shoot at 300 yards will be held, and the fol- ( lowing weekend the competition (and the season) will be finalised with a shoot at 500 and 600 yards.
TE PUHI WOMEN’S INSTITUTE The annual meeting of the Te Puhi \* omen’s Institute was held on April 11th, Mrs. Tracey presiding over a good attendance. The election of officers for the coming year resulted in : Pres.dent Mrs. A. Tracey ; Vice President Mrs. A. White ; Secretary and Trea- j surer—Mrs. A. White and Mrs. Buckingham 2 ; Fruit —Miss R. Panther 1, Mrs. Brockbank 2 ; Sewing—Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. White and Miss Panther 1, Mrs. Dawson 2. Juniors : Sewing—Miss Webber 1, Miss Brockbank and Miss Edwards 2 ; Posy—Mrs. Brockbank and Miss Edwards 2 ; Cooking—Miss Brockbank 2. Arrangements were made for the birthday dance to be held on the 10th May. PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE STATEMENT FOR MARCH Estates of a value of £504,530 were reported and accepted for administration by the Public Trustee during the month of March, 1940, the new business for the year being £5,880,776. Grants of administration made by the Court in favour of the Public Trustee numbered 116 for the month. During the month 567 new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor were prepared on behalf of testators and lodged for safe custody, and 407 existing wills were revised to provide for changes desired by testators. The total number of wills now held in the Public Trust Office on behalf of living persons is 97,999.
