TAI PA BRIDGE BHB^B’ro posed New Structure ‘[.'WB have now been prepared by Depai’tment for the proposed new bridge across the Taipa river. The proposed structure consists of seven 50-feet spans of reinforced concrete, making the overall length only slightly more than half that of the present bridge. This relatively short length may cause temporary local scouring due to high velocity of discharge during floods and a protective apron of stone at the abutments is considered necessary. The deck width of 12 feet provides for one way traffic only, but the design is adapted for duplication into a two-way structure when traffic density warrants it. The approach embankments, however, will be constructed to the full width of 24 feet, allowing ample passing room at each end of the bridge. Seven foot clearance at high tide will be given launches.
