The programme took the form of an Australian afternoon, gum leaves, pictures of kookaburras, and a basket cleverly decorated with pink gum flowers, a koala bear and a small

wooden model of Australia were included in the table decorations. A most interesting talk on Australia was given by Mrs. Williamson and was very much appreciated. The shield for the most points gained in competitions through the year, was presented to Mrs. Henry Subritzky. Miss Helen Topia obliged with a song sung first in Maori and then in English. Formation of Road to Reservoir A start was made this week on the formation of the county section of the road leading to the Trig hill above Kaitaia, where the reservoir for the new water supply will be built. The opening of this road will give access to properties in that locality and also open up good gravel beds for road metal. It will be extensively used for the transport of the material for the water supply.
