MATTHEWS.—In loving memory of E. W. D. Matthews who departed to be with Christ on October 30th, 1933. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of his saints. —lnserted by his sons and daughters.
WE, as a Council of Christian Youth and Bible Class members of this County, believing that Intemperance is a National Menace, for the following reasons, are resolved to stand firm by the Cause of TEMPERANCE. 1 — It is an offence against PERSONALITY; ruining the health, progressively weakening the Will, destroying accuracy and self-control, and defiling the imagination. 2 It is an offence against SOCIETY: taking the smile from the face of Sport, the spontaneity from amusement, and supplies many of the inmates of our hospitals, asylums and gaols. B—lt is an offence against POSTERITY : starting many innocent beings in Life with weakened tissues and providing them with an undesirable environment which hinders true development. 4—lt is an offence against GOD, the CREATOR; robbing man of his GODlikc image, (Personality), and divesting him of his God-given prerogative, (Reason), and unfits him to be a true neighbour to his fellows. Proposed — Rev. Andrew J. Johnston. ( Chairman). Seconded — Rev. W. H. Nicholas Mr. R. Haggard Signed by 102 Members.
