Sifting of the Court at Kaitaia
Before Messrs J. T. B. Taaffe and W. H. Atkins J.’s P., at the Kaitaia court on Monday, William Graham, a native, was convicted for the theft of gum from the Ahipara gumfields. Accused pleaded guilty. Constable Thornell stated that Graham stole the gum and sold it to a gum dealer, and when interviewed by Constable Buckley, admitted the offence. Graham, who had a previous conviction for theft, was sentenced to one month’s hard labour in the Kaitaia gaol.
