COUNTY COUNCIL SALARIES RAISED
5 Percent, of Cut Restored At the last County Council meeting the Councillors of the Mangonui County Council decided to restore 5 percent, of the cuts imposed on the Council’s staff some time ago. The Chairman said that as the finances of the Council were improving, he considered that 5 percent, of the cuts imposed on the salaries of the Council’s staff should be restored. This was seconded by Cr. Matthews, who stated that the staff had given faithful service during the strenuous times, and the Council should recognise this loyal service. Other Councillors supported the resolution, and it was carried unanimously. The assistant-Clerk’s salary was raised to £125 per annum, on account of the extra work involved through the control of relief workers. The rise in all cases to take effect from October 1. On behalf of Miss Coulter, the County Clerk, Mr. McKinnon, thanked the Councillors for their action, and said that Miss Coulter was one of the most efficient assistants he had had during his long local body service.
