Chancellor Hitler : “One law for one and another for another is a system that cannot last. Why do not the others trust us? When has the

Sir Michael Sadler : “I cannot believe that the economic system as we now see it will alone be the eco-

nomic system of the future. I believe that the economic system under which we live will continue to exist, but that it will become more and more reduced in importance, and that side by side with it will be something that will consist in communal distribution of things needed, in return for which the community will require labour and service. If my forecast of such a future is correct —and I am convinced that something like it is true—it suggests that for a time there will be some kind of communal authority to control distribution far exceeding anything we have ever had in this country or in Western Europe. It points to the fact that some great authority among us will drive to work those who refuse to work in return for the share of the general abundance which they will generously receive.”
