Friesian Enthusiasts

That enthusiastic Remuera Estate breeder, Mr. F. G. Dibble, who has built up a fine Friesian herd, started in the Black and Whites on returning from the great war. His first pedigree sires were Dominion Manola Dutchman (Longbeach Primrose League—Manola) and Ponto De Kr.l (Pontiac De Kol Pietertje—Ebony). Mr. Dibble showed his enterprise when four years ago he selected from the distant Otago herd of Messrs. North and Sons his present herd sire, Rosevale Count Griselda Posch, a son of Count Korndyke Roberts Posch (imp.) out of a daughter of Rosevale Gladys Posch, 9401 b fat. Mrs. Dibble, who also saw active service at the front, is another very enthusiastic Friesian fancier.

That Reminds Me Talking of cricket reminds me. Listen you boys who weild the willow. So keen were the cricketers in the North in the old days that when Messrs. A. D. Clemett and Hazard of Mangonui were selected to represent North Auckland they mounted their horses, rode through to Kawakawa, secured re-mounts and after a rest continued their journey to Whangarei —all in the 24 hours—a distance of 100 miles ; and one—A. D.—was not a good horseman, either.
