At the Theatres PRINCESS, KAITAIA Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd A really big programme will be offered at the Princess, Kaitaia, on Friday (tonight) and Saturday (tomorrow night). Harry Lauder will be heard singing “Nanny,” and Mickey Mouse will appear in “Wayward Canary.” “The Cheyenne Kid,” with Tom Keene, is a fine musical Western picture. To win the race and win the girl, that was the stake hanging on the fastest and most thrilling automobile race you ever saw in all your life. It is the climax of “Racing Youth.” Monday 25th (Christmas Night) The “Messiah” will be rendered, a percentage of the proceeds being for the hospital funds. Tuesday 26th When two staunch favourites like Slim Summerville and Zasu Pitts get together in one picture, that picture in bound to be a sensation of good, old-fashioned hilarious laughs, and such is “The Unexpected Father,” the picture for Boxing Night. Wednesday 27th “Jack’s the Boy,” the picture for Wednesday, a Jack Hulbert mirthquake, is an absolute laughter riot, perfectly directed, beautifully photographed and . containing enough screamingly funny situations to make half a dozen good comedies. Cicely Courtneidge and Winifred Shotter are the feminine leads in this picture. Friday 29th and Saturday 30th On Friday 29th and Saturday 30th Buck Jones will appear in a stirring Western show, “The Sundown Rider.” Heart beats compete with hoof beats in “Fast Companions,” which will also be screened. Monday (New Year’s Night) “Forgotten Commandments” is a dramatic, forceful, soul-stirring picture of a new and modern State. This is the first feature on the big programme for New Year’s Night. If you’ve ever seen a picture in which comedy is uppermost, “Million Dollar Legs” is that picture. Every scene is a laugh, every actor or actress a comedy star of reputation. This describes the second feature on the programme. Wednesday 3rd January One of the late Edgar Wallace’s greatest thrillers, “White Face,” is the leading picture on the programme to be screened on Wednesday, January 3. This is one of the most enjoyable mystery plays from the British studios. An English musical farce, “Lord Babs,” will also be shown.
