During last week-end the A. A. Sign Postin'}. Patrol was in the district erecting ddta' in preparation for the great tourists that are expected thlsholiday season.

The pipes for the water supply for the Kaitaia Hospital arrived last boat, being carried by Frankham’s Ltd., free of cost to the Board. The pipes have now been oarted, also free of charge, as near as possible to the line oil which they will be laid.

Heavy inward cargoes have been carried during the past few weeks by the boats trading from Auckland to Awanui.

Haymaking is in full swing in many parts of the district, the rain of this week delaying operations. Crop 3 are reported to be lighter this year than last.

The schools of the district closed for the Summer holidays this week and there was a general exodus of teachers making South for the holidays.

A collision occurred between a school bus carrying children from the Takahue School to Digger’s Valley and driven by Mr. C. Harris, and a motor car driven by Dr. Torrie. The bus came off the worst from the encounter, the car being little damaged. No one was injured.

A strong committee from the Ahipara Domain Board under the leadership of Mr. C. E. Kusabs, will conduct a refreshment stall on the occasion of the Boxing Day Sports on the Ahipara Beach. All those who are interested, assist with contributions of food and fruit and it is hoped a substantial sum will be obtained to further the improvement of the Ahipara Domain. It is also intended to hold a dance at an early date while a working bee is set for the first Saturday in 1934.
