Fairburn Ladies’ Guild Bazaar

Success of the highest degree attended the Bazaar and Concert, held by the Fairburn Ladies’ Guild in the Fairburn Hall, in aid of the Medodist Church fundsi the proceeds amounting to over £3O. The day was fine and visitors came from all surrounding districts. During the year the ladies of the Guild had spent much time in preparation for the Bazaar. Mrs. Metcalfe as President, and the ladies were extremely grateful to all those who assisted financially and socially towards the success of the day. Brisk business was done throughout the afternoon by the following holders of stalls Drapery—Mrs. H. Foster; Cakes—Mrs. G. May and Mrs. Dangen ; Produce —Mrs. Hoskin ; Sweets—Mrs. Fricker and Miss Thomas; Bible Class Jumble Stall—Mrs. L. Foster and Mr. 11. Chapman ; Afternoon Tea—Mesdames Metcalfe, Buckingham and Chapman. The nail driving competition for the prize donated by Mr. McKinnon, was won by Miss I. Gardiner. In the evening the concert entertainment commenced, items of merit being rendered by Mesdames D. Archibald, T. Taylor, C. Woods, Miss J. Taylor, the Chapman Quartette and Messrs Blight, Hancox and B. Foster. The Paranui Bible Class gave two delightful playettes and the Fairburn’s school children gave a display of folk-dancing. Speeches of thanks to the assembly were made by Mrs. Metcalfe, the President, and the Rev. Mr. Blight.

At the close the ladies handed round supper to all.

The Fairburn Ladies Guild wish to thank all friends from surrounding districts who helped right loyally to make the Bazaar and Concert of December 7th such a success.
