Te Kao

Presentation of Dairy Shield Mr. W. Cooper, of the Native Lands Consolidation Department, and Mr. M. R. Findlay, Farm Supervisor, paid a visit to Te Kao. The presentation of a shield, donated by Mr. Findlay to the person supplying the highest average grade cream to the Kaitaia factory during the past season, was made to Mr. Rikihana Etana, who averaged 92.7 percent for the season 1930-31. Out of 36 suppliers, 27 averaged over 90 percent. The competition for the shield is confined to Te Kao, for the first two years, after which it will be open to Maori suppliers in the Mangonui County. The supply of cream from Te Kao settlement up to the present is far ahead of that up to a corresponding period of last season.
