At the Theatre
At the Princess Theatre on Saturday is to be screened a doublefeature programme : “Little Accident” and “The Call of the Flesh.” The cast of “Little Accident” includes such notable favourites at Douglas Fairbanks, Jnr., Anita Page, Sally Blane, Zazu Pitts and Slim Summerville, and is taken from New York’s prize-winning stage play by Thomas Mitchell and Floyd Dell. The picture is hilariously funny, and while by itself being an excellent evening’s entertainment, when combined with “Call of the Flesh” becomes an outstanding programme. “Call of the Flesh” is a story of gay Madrid, and has starred Ramon Novarro, supported by Dorothy Jordan, Ernest Torrence and Renee Adoree. A Major Attraction For Wednesday the Princess has secured “Common Clay,” which had an amazing success in the cities and was easily the most discussed play of the year. In the cast are Constance Bennett, Beryl Mercer, and Lewis Ayres—all favourites. Patrons would be wise to book their seats for this attraction.
The clcqnest schools the schools with the cleanest desks and the whitest floors—were the Maori schools, said the Director of Education (Mr. T. B. Strong), speaking at the opening of the Kauangaroa Native School. * * % * Mr. Daniel Payne, a farmer of Maunu, was suddenly charged by a Jersey bull he was tying up at the Whangarei Show grounds last week. He received severe injuries from the bull’s horns, which ripped his right upper thigh for eight inches and also his left thigh and fractured his pelvis. The animal tossed Mr. Payne over the rails.
