REMOVAL OF REV. R. H. TRILL

The Rev. R. Hailey Trill has received and accepted appointment to the Parish of Takapuna, succeeding the Rev. W. G. Monckton, M.A. The appointment is to take effect at the end of January. The Rev. Mr. Trill has been two years vicar of the Kaitaia parochial district, coming here from the parish of Te Awamutu. Educated in the University of Wales he took the degree of B.A. in 1906 and past graduate honours in English in 1907. Matriculated as senior student of Oxford University and scholar of Mansfield College, he pursued his studies for the Congregational ministry. Overstudy brought to an end the Oxford experience after a year and a half. For the next six years Mr. Trill laboured in the Congregational ministry in America and Canada, being ordained in 1910. In 1915 he was made deacon by the Bishop of Montreal, and in 1916 priest. He became curate to Canon Horsey and Canon Almond successively in Montreal, and was then appointed' incumbent of a suburban parish and acting chaplain of the Montreal prison. Descriptions of the climate and conditions in New Zealand proved so attractive that in 1927 he resigned the parish of Middlebury, U.S.A., and chaplain to the University College, and came to New Zealand, to be appointed as vicar of Te Awamutu. Mr. Trill told the vestry last week that excessive travelling in this parish is the reason for desiring a change, and that it will be a severe wrench for the family and himself to break with the happy associations of Kaitaia and district. Takapuna has the advantage of being more compact and having an excellent assistant in the work, Canon Young. The Archbishop informs him that a very important and exacting work awaits to be done, and that the work amoung the young people calls for special attention.
